https://www.journal.unrika.ac.id/index.php/metalogram/article/view/8452
This study evaluates the performance of a simple motorized potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) peeling machine. Evaluation parameters include peeling efficiency, weight loss, machine speed, and capacity. It highlights the correlations and variations between these parameters using graphical illustrations. The materials used were categorized into component materials, measuring tools and potato samples. Peeling operation was carried out and replicated 20 times. Results revealed an average weight loss of 27.5g, suggesting a well-calibrated blade engagement, a mean speed of 3.1 potatoes min, an average throughput of 450g/min and an average efficiency of 86.16%. There was a strong positive linear relationship between the initial weight and the final weight which infers a uniform peeling across all sizes. There was no consistent correlation between weight loss and throughput; this suggests that throughput was not tied to peeling aggressiveness, allowing focus on waste minimization without compromising output. Result revealed that as speed increases, throughput also increases, implying that speed was a productivity driver. There was an inverse relationship between weight loss and efficiency; high losses could signal over-aggressiveness. Efficiency was fairly high across all speeds ranging between 84.44 – 87.88 %, but tends slightly dip at the highest speeds. This suggests that increasing can slightly reduce peeling accuracy. In conclusion, the machine reveals a robust yet improvable machine for potato peeling. We therefore recommended that a sorter, speed controller and a feedback sensor be attached for optimization.

https://www.journal.unrika.ac.id/index.php/metalogram/article/view/7809
This study reviews and analyzes vertical vibrations in the suspension system of passenger vehicles, focusing on the McPherson strut configuration. By synthesizing findings from previous experimental research employing vibration test benches like the UKA-3.5E, the dynamic response of suspensions under varying frequencies and tire inflation pressures is examined. Results indicate that tire pressure significantly influences vibration amplitude and duration, aligning with theories that model tire stiffness as a parallel spring element affecting overall suspension dynamics. The analysis also highlights the effectiveness of multi-sensor approaches, including proximity sensors and load cells, in capturing real-time vibrational behavior. Understanding these relationships is vital for optimizing suspension performance and developing strategies to reduce vibrations, thereby improving vehicle stability, occupant comfort, and safety.

https://www.journal.unrika.ac.id/index.php/metalogram/article/view/8147
The purpose of this study is to analyze the vibration behavior of the EMCO Maximat V13 lathe due to variations in machine rotation and variations in cutting depth. This research is an experimental research. The research specimens amounted to 45 specimens. The data of this study was obtained from the measurement of vibration deviation using Vibscaner which was measured on the toll post of the lathe. From the data, it can be analyzed that the effect of increasing the rotation of the machine will cause an increase in the vibration of the lathe marked by an increase in the measured deviation on the Vibscaner, as well as the result of cutting, together both the increase in rotation and the increase in feeding together affect the increase in the vibration of the lathe measured on the Vibscaner. The test uses quantitative statistics. The results of the hypothesis test showed: (1) There is an effect of cutting speed on the vibration of the lathe, this can be seen from the significance value (sig) 0.000 < 0.05 and the calculation of 8.882 > 2.062 ttables. (2) There is an effect of cutting depth on the vibration of the lathe, this can be seen from the significance value (sig) of 0.000 < 0.05 and the tcount of 5.652> 2.063 ttables, and (3) There is an effect of cutting speed and cutting depth together on the vibration of the lathe, this can be seen from the significance value (sig) 0.000 < 0.05 and tcount 11.734 > 2.062 table.

https://www.journal.unrika.ac.id/index.php/metalogram/article/view/7814
The diverse functions of buildings today require designs that minimize potential damage, particularly from natural disasters. Earthquakes are one of the natural disasters that pose a significant threat to buildings. For example, the earthquake that occurred in Yogyakarta in 2023 caused damage to various building facilities. This study aims to identify the vulnerability level of buildings using microtremor data to obtain the natural frequency value of the building (fb), building resonance index (R), and building vulnerability index (Kb). This research has been carried out in multi-storey buildings by measuring natural frequencies on the building and its basic land. The recorded vibration data were analyzed with the H / V technique to get its natural frequency value. The measurement results of building floor vibrations using the GPL-6A3P accelerometer show that the natural frequency

https://www.journal.unrika.ac.id/index.php/metalogram/article/view/7978
Welding is one of the most commonly used metal joining processes in the manufacturing and construction industries. However, this process often results in defects in the weld joint, especially in manual welding of carbon steel, which can affect the quality and strength of the joint. This study aims to analyze the types of welding defects that occur in manual welding of carbon steel, identify their main causes, and provide technical solutions to minimize such defects. The methods used include visual inspection, penetrant testing (PT), and macrostructure examination of the welded joints. The results show that the most common defects found are porosity, undercut, incomplete fusion, and slag inclusion. The primary causes of these defects include improper welding parameter settings, inadequate cleanliness of the metal surface, and the skill level of the operator. As solutions, it is recommended to conduct regular operator training, adjust current and voltage according to the type of electrode used, and ensure proper surface preparation before welding. This study is expected to serve as a reference for industry practitioners in improving the quality of carbon steel weld joints

https://www.journal.unrika.ac.id/index.php/metalogram/article/view/8692
Wind energy represents one of Indonesia’s most promising renewable energy resources, with a national potential estimated at approximately 60 GW. However, its implementation remains limited due to insufficient site-specific assessments and feasibility studies. This research analyzes the wind energy potential at Galang District Beach, Batam City, and evaluates the technical suitability of the Sky Dancer 500 (TSD 500) wind turbine equipped with inversed-taper blades for small-scale electricity generation. A descriptive quantitative method was employed using secondary wind speed data from NASA (2014–2018) and primary measurements collected continuously for 30 days. Results show that Galang District Beach, Batam City exhibits average wind speeds ranging from 4 to 13.41 m/s, with a maximum recorded speed of 13.41 m/s. Based on technical analysis, low-speed wind characteristics align well with the operational profile of a horizontal-axis wind turbine utilizing inversed-taper blades. Estimations indicate that the TSD 500 turbine can generate 390–500 Wh of electricity per day under the observed wind conditions. These findings demonstrate that the site possesses adequate potential for micro-scale wind power development, and deploying ten units of the TSD 500 turbine could supply daily electrical needs for approximately ten households. The study contributes to the growing body of literature on decentralized renewable energy solutions for remote and coastal communities in Indonesia..
