Jurnal Trias Politika adheres to the authorship principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) . These principles are designed to ensure transparency, accountability, and integrity in the attribution of scholarly work.
1. Core Principles of Authorship
According to COPE, two minimum requirements define authorship across all disciplines:
-
Substantial contribution to the work.
-
Accountability for the work and its published form.
Authorship is limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the concept, design, execution, or interpretation of the research study. All individuals who have made such contributions should be offered the opportunity to be listed as authors.
2. Criteria for Authorship
To qualify as an author, a contributor must have:
-
Made a substantial intellectual contribution to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data; and
-
Participated in drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and
-
Approved the final version to be published; and
-
Agreed to be accountable for all aspects of the work, ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
All individuals who meet these criteria should be listed as authors.
3. Non-Author Contributors
Individuals who have contributed to the work but do not meet the authorship criteria should be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section, with their permission. Examples include:
-
Technical or administrative support
-
Writing assistance or language editing
-
Provision of materials, data, or reagents
-
General supervision of a research group
4. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author is responsible for:
-
Communicating with the journal during submission, peer review, and production.
-
Confirming that all authors meet the authorship criteria and have approved the manuscript.
-
Ensuring that all authors have agreed to the order of authorship.
-
Providing the Author Contribution Statement using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) .
-
Managing post-publication correspondence and corrections.
5. Author Contribution Statement (CRediT)
All manuscripts must include an Author Contribution Statement using the CRediT taxonomy. This ensures transparency about who contributed to the work and in what capacity. The following roles should be used where applicable:
-
Conceptualization
-
Data curation
-
Formal analysis
-
Funding acquisition
-
Investigation
-
Methodology
-
Project administration
-
Resources
-
Software
-
Supervision
-
Validation
-
Visualization
-
Writing – original draft
-
Writing – review & editing
Jurnal Trias Politika has implemented this practice in published articles, where the division of roles among authors is clearly stated.
6. Author Order and Changes
The order of authors should reflect the relative contribution of each author. The corresponding author must confirm that all authors have approved the author order before submission.
Any request to add, remove, or reorder authors after submission must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief, signed by all authors, and accompanied by a clear reason. The Editor-in-Chief will decide whether to approve the change in accordance with COPE guidelines on handling changes to authorship lists.
7. Artificial Intelligence and Authorship
Artificial intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the work, provide final approval, or be accountable for the integrity of the publication. This aligns with the COPE position on authorship and AI tools.-2
If AI tools were used in the research or writing process, their use must be disclosed in the manuscript in a separate statement. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content.
8. Ghost, Gift, and Guest Authorship
Jurnal Trias Politika strictly prohibits ghost authorship, gift authorship, and guest authorship. All listed authors must have made a substantial intellectual contribution to the work. COPE defines these inappropriate practices as follows:
-
Ghost author: Someone who is omitted or deleted from an author list despite qualifying for authorship.
-
Guest or gift author: Someone who is listed as an author despite not fulfilling the authorship criteria.
Any attempt to include individuals who do not meet the authorship criteria may result in rejection of the manuscript or retraction of the published article.
9. Authorship Disputes
Any dispute regarding authorship must be reported to the Editor-in-Chief. The journal will handle such disputes according to COPE guidelines. The Editor-in-Chief may request written statements from all involved parties and may involve the authors' institutions if necessary. The journal reserves the right to suspend the review or publication process until the dispute is resolved.
10. Responsibility and Accountability
By submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Trias Politika, all authors confirm that:
-
They have read and approved the final version of the manuscript.
-
They meet the authorship criteria described above.
-
They agree to be accountable for all aspects of the work.
-
They have disclosed any conflicts of interest.
-
They have not submitted the manuscript to another journal concurrently.
