Screening Of Plagiarisme

Jurnal Trias Politika is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity. As part of this commitment, the journal strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism. This policy outlines the journal's definition of plagiarism, the screening process, and the actions taken if plagiarism is detected, in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.

1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism occurs when an author presents the work, ideas, data, or words of another person as their own without proper, unambiguous attribution. The journal considers the following as forms of plagiarism:

  • Direct Plagiarism: Copying text verbatim from a source without quotation marks and proper citation.
  • Mosaic/Patchwork Plagiarism: Changing a few words or phrases from someone else's work while retaining the original structure and idea without proper citation.
  • Idea Plagiarism: Presenting another person's intellectual ideas or theories as one's own.
  • Self-Plagiarism: Reusing substantial portions of an author's own previously published work without citing the original publication or without transparent disclosure to the editor.
  • Data Plagiarism: Using fabricated or manipulated data or presenting another researcher's data as one's own.
2. Plagiarism Screening Process

To ensure originality, all manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo a rigorous similarity check:

  • Tools: The journal utilizes professional plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate).
  • Similarity Threshold: The maximum acceptable similarity index is 25% (excluding references, quotations, and bibliography).
  • When it is checked: Screening is conducted twice: (1) immediately upon submission (Desk Review stage) and (2) before final publication (Production stage).
3. Actions and Sanctions

If plagiarism is detected at any stage, the Editorial Board will take the following actions:

  • Minor Similarity (15%–30%): The manuscript will be returned to the author for paraphrasing, proper citation, and rewriting. The author must submit a revision within the specified deadline.
  • Major Similarity (>30%): The manuscript will be immediately rejected (desk rejection) without further review.
  • Post-Publication Plagiarism: If plagiarism is discovered after publication, the journal will issue a formal Correction or Retraction in accordance with our R-W-C Policy, and notify the authors' institutions.
  • Repeat Offenders: Authors found to have committed multiple or severe acts of plagiarism may be permanently banned from submitting to the journal.
